Tetris & Dr. Mario: 2 Games in 1!

Tetris & Dr. Mario might just be the greatest video game compilation of all time. You can’t go wrong with either of these titles, but mashing them together?! That’s ingenious!

DKC2 – Diddy’s Kong Quest (It’s a Pun)

Each week, Patrons of Two Button Crew vote on which classic game we will play live on our stream. This time, DKC2 was the winner! Simeon and Scott have played the original on a previous video, and weren’t too taken with the game’s weird graphics. Will the sequel win them over? Will patron’s feelings be hurt? Watch and find out!

What Makes Geno So Special? HUH?!

Geno has a cult following, that’s for sure. This weird wooden wizard gained immense popularity after starring as one of the playable characters in Super Mario RPG. But what makes him so special that fans would still be clamoring for him to become playable in Super Smash Bros. titles to this day? Allow us to consult our resident Geno expert to bring you the best answers.

SHOULD Switch have Virtual Console?

Almost everyone is saying a big, loud, resounding “YES,” Switch needs to have Virtual Console! But Simeon and Scott are both coming at this topic from a different perspective. Before clicking that downvote thumb and leaving a nasty comment, watch the video to the end and see if we present any compelling cases for why Nintendo should abstain from selling their old retro releases to us, once again, on a digital storefront.

The Most SUPER of METROIDs? (SNES)

Simeon and Scott played Xeodrifter earlier this week, a game which probably wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Super Metroid. In this SNES Samus outing, we take control of the bounty hunter and explore a mysterious world.

In the Ring with Super Punch-Out!!

Little Mac is one of the littler big stars of Nintendo’s original IP. You don’t hear people begging for new entries in the series often, but fans of the Punch-Out games often speak highly of the few outings he’s had. We’re turning on the SNES Classic Edition to give this game a spin, and see how far we can get in single player mode before being knocked out cold.

Surviving Contra III: The Alien Wars

Our viewers love putting us through the ringer when it comes to “Let’s Play Classics” games, and this week will be no differing. Especially because we can’t get the Konmai code to work! Simeon and Scott will be lucky to make it to level 3 in this tough-as-nails arcade shooter. At least they have each other to count on… right?

It’s a ~Secret of Mana~ to Everyone

Thank goodness for Glen, or we would have been wandering around Secret of Mana aimlessly. This is a very interesting, quirky RPG from Square, complete with funny animations for walking up stairs and opening a treasure chest. It’s pretty fun! Watch and enjoy.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island

The “sequel” to Super Mario World on SNES, Yoshi’s Island, is a very different kind of platformer! With MANY things to collect, crying babies to carry, and plenty of eggs to toss, this is an oddball entry in the Super Mario series. But we love it.

This is What a GOOD Mario RPG Looks Like

Super Mario RPG is one of Simeon’s favorite games! Modern-day Mario RPGs have since lost their way, but it’s always a good time when you throw it back to this Nintendo/Square partnership. Simeon will even show us a few impressive secrets along the way!

Revisiting Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

With Breath of the Wild sweeping our Game of the Year Awards, we thought it appropriate to go back “in time” and play a game from the past… A Link to the Past, to be precise. This SNES Classic is a gem, even by today’s standards. With modern games like Blossom Tales still taking nods from ALttP, it’s clear that this title was made to stand the test of time.

Super Castlevia IV – Let’s Whip Some Tail

A pattern is emerging… each week, our Patrons get to vote on which games we stream live. Each week, they pick the hardest ones possible. On this edition of Let’s Play Classics, Simeon and Scott are tasked with conquering the first few levels of Super Castlevania IV on the SNES Classic Edition. Will they abuse the rewind feature? Will they throw their beautiful new controllers in frustration? Find out, and enjoy the show!

Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts – Chop Til We Drop

Two Button Crew patrons voted that we subject ourselves to this torture, so we did. What felt like an hour of agony was really only 35 minutes of trial and error. And a lot of the SNES Classic Edition rewind feature. Thank goodness for that. Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts may just be the hardest game we’ve played on the show, but watch the whole thing to see how we feel about it towards the end.

Adventures in Earthbound

Our patrons voted that we should try out Earthbound for the SNES Classic Edition, and their wish is our command! This quirky RPG is sure to be weird, if nothing else. Should be entertaining!

Back to Mario Kart’s SNES Roots!

Simeon grew up with Super Mario Kart, but Scott’s only played it once. This should be interesting. We start with a grand prix and end with a fierce balloon battle. Watch until the end for something you probably never wanted to see!

Donkey Kong Country: To Hate, or Not to Hate?

Simeon and Scott are trying to give Donkey Kong Country a fair shake here, even though they’ve never touched the game because of its graphics. Spoiler alert: they end up having a lot of fun and discovering some really challenging parts of the game. Extra spoilers: mine carts are involved. Beware the mine carts.

Are We Any Good at Star Fox 2?

Star Fox 2 is a divisive game. Media outlets tried scoring it, but that was met with much strife over how a cancelled SNES game should be scored in 2017. Let’s put all that aside and actually play the game, shall we? Scott actually makes it way farther than he expected to in this run. Thoughts on the game? Comment below.

Nintendo’s Making Lots of Excuses

Nintendo, supply, and demand. Three words that don’t always mesh together very well. They’re at it again, this time with the SNES Classic Edition. And when the Public Relations dude at Nintendo seems lost for words, well, the situation must not be pretty. Also, Sonic Forces isn’t shaping up too well on Switch. Unfortunately, a bit of a downer this News week. However, we round things out by talking about the awesome Nintendo World Championships!

Mega Man X – Newb Vs. Pro

In our previous Mega Man Trivia episode, we proved that Simeon is a master of Mega Man knowledge. This video, today, is here to prove that Simeon’s got just as much skill in-game as he does outside. And for your comparison pleasure, we have Scott, who will contrast Simeon’s awesomeness with pure newbishness.

Are Classic Editions the New Virtual Console?

We will be attending Classics Anonymous.

“Virtual Console” isn’t a term that we hear much these days, especially compared to all the buzz surrounding the SNES Classic Edition and the NES version before it. We’re wondering: Are these special retro consoles here to stay, while VC takes a back seat? Will we ever see Virtual Console on Switch? Let’s discuss!Footage credit: Polygon
